Devinci Hybrid Bikes
Based in Quebec, Canada, Cycles Devinci opened its doors in 1987 and, for a brief moment, it appeared they might close again just as quickly. So great was Devinici’s commitment to quality that they were losing money on their own product. Luckily growth and new production techniques soon ushered in a new era for the North American brand, and after a short hiatus from the U.S. market, we can once again enjoy the fine bicycles Devinci makes in the states.
Devinci was among the first worldwide cycling brands to promote the use of “bike taxis,” publicly available bicycles for use in major cities. They installed the service in their hometown of Montreal first and have since been responsible for its implementation in a number of major cities around the world including New York and Chicago. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that Devinci hybrid bikes are beautifully made and intuitively designed. Geometry that borrows from road bikes and mountain bikes has been massaged to deliver a comfortable but sporty ride and combined with top-quality components. You won’t find a better way across town.
See the World on a Devinci
The Devinci Wellington, Milano, Amsterdam and Drive models give riders options when selecting their around-town rig. Each bike is available in Devinci’s trademark optimized aluminum, which is shaped by Devinci in Canada at their dedicated facility. If you’re racing your friends to the next stop, you’ll want to take a look at the Amsterdam. For a more upright ride imbued with the quick reflexes of a mountain bike, check out the Drive. Here is some more information about the Devinci hybrid bikes you can find on BikeExchange:
- Devinci Drive Bikes: Based on Devinci mountain geometry, the Drive’s 700c tires make it roll much faster on pavement than you’d expect. Light and simple, the Drive is all about practicality with its front suspension allowing you to ride off the occasional curb worry-free — try that on your rigid. You also get Tektro mechanical disc brakes and 24-speeds shifted by quality Shimano components.
- Devinci Milano Bikes: Like many of Devinci’s hybrid offerings, the Milano comes in regular and women-specific frame shapes to give the rider every advantage. The Milano is all about smooth rolling, with a Chromoly steel front fork that allows for better compliance than similar aluminum equipment. Formula hubs and a 21-speed Shimano drivetrain get you where you’re going, fast.
- Devinci Amsterdam Bikes: Were it not so good at its job, you might be tempted just to hang the Devinci Amsterdam from your wall as a work of art. Its sleek lines and fluid shape, are, however quite purposeful. A quality component set that includes a 30-speed Shimano Tiagra drivetrain and FSA crankset lets this handsome flat bar bike achieve top speed on city streets while still delivering the comfort you expect.
